Decitabine

Decitabine is a medication used to treat certain blood cancers, such as myelodysplastic syndromes and leukemia. It works by modifying the DNA inside cancer cells, specifically by removing chemical tags called methyl groups. These tags can silence genes that control cell growth and help the cancer cells to multiply uncontrollably. By reducing methylation, Decitabine helps restore normal gene activity, encouraging the cancer cells to mature and die naturally. This helps slow or stop the progression of the disease. It is administered in a clinical setting under medical supervision.
