Debt Arrangement Scheme
The Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) is a legally recognized process in Scotland that helps individuals manage their debts. It allows people to create a structured repayment plan to pay back what they owe over a set period, usually up to 10 years. While in the scheme, creditors cannot take legal action to recover their debts. The aim is to provide a manageable way for individuals to settle their debts while avoiding bankruptcy. Once the payments are completed, any remaining unsecured debt is typically written off, offering a fresh financial start.
