Darfur Region

Darfur is a region in western Sudan, characterized by its ethnic diversity and vast desert landscapes. Historically, it has been home to nomadic herders and agricultural communities. Since the early 2000s, Darfur has experienced violent conflicts, driven by issues such as resource competition, political marginalization, and ethnic tensions. These conflicts led to widespread displacement, humanitarian crises, and allegations of serious human rights abuses.
