Daniel Defoe

Daniel Defoe (circa 1660-1731) was an English writer and journalist best known for his novel "Robinson Crusoe," published in 1719. This work is often regarded as one of the first novels in the English language, telling the story of a man stranded on a deserted island. Defoe was also a prolific writer, producing essays, pamphlets, and other novels, including "Moll Flanders." Beyond his literary contributions, he was an astute observer of society and politics, often commenting on issues of his time, such as economics, colonialism, and individualism, making him a significant figure in early modern literature.
