
Dame Laura Knight
Dame Laura Knight (1877–1970) was a prominent British painter known for her vivid, expressive art and her role as a pioneering female figure in the art world. She is best known for her paintings of ballet dancers, circus performers, and the theater, which capture the vibrancy of performance and human emotion. Knight was a member of the Royal Academy and became one of the first women to be made a full academician. Her work often highlighted the lives of women and the arts, and she was recognized for her contributions to British art with a damehood in 1929.
