Cupping Marks
Cupping marks are reddish or purple circles on the skin resulting from a therapy called cupping. During treatment, glass or silicone cups create suction on the skin, increasing blood flow and promoting relaxation or healing. The suction can cause small blood vessels to break, leading to the characteristic marks. These marks are generally harmless and fade within a few days to a week. Cupping is often used to alleviate muscle tension, improve circulation, or reduce pain, but the appearance of marks is simply a temporary side effect indicating increased blood flow in the treated area.
