Croatian War of Independence

The Croatian War of Independence (1991-1995) was a conflict between Croatia and Serb-controlled areas amid Croatia's break from Yugoslavia. After declaring independence, Croatia faced armed resistance from Serb forces supported by the Yugoslav army, aiming to remain part of Yugoslavia or create Serb-majority territories. The war involved intense fighting, ethnic tensions, and significant civilian suffering, including instances of ethnic cleansing.
