Crimea (Region)
Crimea is a peninsula located on the northern coast of the Black Sea, geographically connected to Ukraine but with a diverse history of rule. It has a mixed population of ethnic Russians, Ukrainians, and Crimean Tatars. Historically, Crimea has been part of different states, including Russia and Ukraine, and in 2014, Russia annexed it following a disputed referendum, though this action is not recognized internationally. The region has strategic military importance, notable natural beauty, and a complex political status, making it a significant and sensitive geopolitical area in Eastern Europe.
