CPK (Communist Party of Kampuchea)
The Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK), also known as the Khmer Rouge, was a communist political movement in Cambodia that ruled from 1975 to 1979. Led by Pol Pot, they sought to transform Cambodia into a classless, agrarian society through radical policies. Their rule was marked by extreme repression, forced labor, and mass executions, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 1.7 to 2 million people. The CPK aimed to eliminate perceived enemies and societal inequalities, but their brutal strategy led to widespread suffering and is considered one of the most tragic genocides of the 20th century.
