Covert Bullying
Covert bullying refers to subtle, hidden acts of bullying that are not immediately obvious. Unlike overt bullying, which involves direct aggression like hitting or shouting, covert bullying includes behaviors such as silent treatment, spreading rumors, exclusion, or undermining someone's reputation. These actions are often difficult to identify because they are indirect or cloaked in friendliness, making it harder for victims to recognize or confront. Covert bullying can cause emotional distress, erode self-esteem, and create a hostile environment, often going unnoticed by others but deeply impacting the person targeted.
