Count Gyula Andrássy

Count Gyula Andrássy was a Hungarian statesman and politician who played a key role in the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the late 19th century. Born in 1823, he initially participated in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. After Hungary's defeat, he went into exile but returned later to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1867 to 1871. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise, which gave Hungary more autonomy within the empire. Andrássy is also known for his diplomatic efforts, including fostering relations with countries like Italy and Russia. He died in 1890.
