Council on Environmental Quality

The Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) is a part of the Executive Office of the President of the United States. Its main role is to help ensure that federal government policies and programs consider their environmental impacts. The CEQ advises the President on environmental issues, coordinates efforts across federal agencies, and oversees the implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which requires environmental assessments for major projects. Essentially, the CEQ aims to promote a healthy environment while considering economic and social factors in federal decision-making.
