Council of Nikea
The First Council of Nicaea, held in 325 AD, was a significant gathering of Christian bishops convened by Emperor Constantine. Its main goal was to resolve disagreements about Christian doctrine, particularly the nature of Jesus Christ. The council produced the Nicene Creed, a statement affirming that Jesus is truly divine and of the same essence as God. This helped unify Christian beliefs across the Roman Empire and set an important precedent for future church councils in defining doctrine and addressing theological disputes.
