Cortical Visual Impairment

Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) is a vision disorder caused by damage or dysfunction in the brain's visual processing areas, rather than problems with the eyes themselves. People with CVI may see blurred, incomplete, or distorted images, and their ability to interpret what they see can vary greatly. It often results from brain injuries, such as those from birth complications, brain infections, or trauma. Unlike eye conditions, the eyes are usually healthy, but the brain struggles to process visual information correctly. CVI requires tailored strategies to help individuals maximize their visual understanding and independence.
