Coordinate axes
Coordinate axes are reference lines used to locate points in space. Typically, they consist of two or three perpendicular lines, called axes, which intersect at a point called the origin. The two-dimensional system uses the x-axis (horizontal) and y-axis (vertical), allowing you to specify locations by pairs of numbers. In three dimensions, a z-axis is added, providing depth. These axes help describe the position of objects or points precisely in space, forming the foundation for graphs, maps, and models in science, engineering, and everyday problem-solving.
