Containment Policy

The containment policy was a strategy primarily used by the United States during the Cold War to limit the spread of communism, especially by the Soviet Union. Instead of trying to eliminate communism where it already existed, the U.S. aimed to prevent it from expanding into new areas. This involved various tactics, including military support for allied nations, economic assistance to strengthen governments, and diplomatic efforts to isolate communist countries. The goal was to maintain a balance of power and promote democratic governance without directly confronting communism through military intervention.
