Constructs
Constructs are ideas or concepts that researchers develop to understand and measure abstract qualities or phenomena that aren't directly observable—like intelligence, motivation, or satisfaction. They serve as building blocks in studies, helping to frame questions and interpret data. Since these ideas can't usually be measured directly, constructs are often assessed through related behaviors, responses, or indicators, which collectively represent the underlying concept. This approach allows researchers to study complex or intangible aspects of human experience in a systematic and meaningful way.
