Conference committees

Conference committees are temporary groups formed in the legislative process, typically in the U.S. Congress, to resolve differences between two versions of a bill passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate. When each chamber approves a different version of a proposed law, these committees meet to negotiate and produce a unified version, known as a conference report. Once agreed upon, the report is sent back to both chambers for a final vote. This process ensures that both legislative bodies collaborate to create a cohesive law before it is sent to the president for approval.
