Conference committee

A conference committee is a specialized group formed during the legislative process when different versions of a bill pass separately in the House and Senate. Its purpose is to review these versions, reconcile differences, and produce a unified bill. This compromise bill, called a conference report, is then sent back to both chambers for approval. The committee ensures the final legislation reflects a consensus, streamlining the process of making laws and avoiding lengthy disagreements between the two legislative bodies.
