Confederation League
The Confederation League was a short-lived political alliance formed in 1867 between some of the Canadian provinces, notably Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Its purpose was to promote closer political and economic ties among these regions, paving the way for the creation of a united country. The league supported the idea of confederation, which eventually led to the formation of the Dominion of Canada in 1867, establishing a federal government while allowing provinces to retain significant autonomy. Essentially, it was a collaborative movement that aimed to strengthen regional unity and shared governance in preparation for nationhood.
