Condoms

Condoms are thin, flexible barriers usually made of latex, polyurethane, or polyisoprene, designed to cover the penis or line the vagina during sexual activity. Their primary purpose is to prevent pregnancy by catching sperm and stopping it from reaching an egg. Condoms also reduce the risk of transmitting sexually transmitted infections (STIs). They are accessible, easy to use, and do not involve hormones or medications. Proper use—such as putting them on before any genital contact and using a new condom for each session—enhances their effectiveness. Condoms are a widely recommended method of contraception and STI prevention.
