Conditions: Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH)

Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH) occurs when the body produces too much antidiuretic hormone (ADH), which controls water balance. This causes the kidneys to retain excess water, diluting the blood's sodium level—a condition called hyponatremia. Symptoms can include headache, confusion, nausea, and in severe cases, seizures or coma. SIADH can result from various causes like tumors, medications, or brain issues. Treatment focuses on correcting the water and sodium imbalance, often through fluid restriction, medication, or addressing the underlying cause.
