Complement Inhibitors
Complement inhibitors are medications that block specific parts of the complement system—a group of proteins in our blood that helps fight infections and remove damaged cells. Sometimes, this system becomes overactive or misdirected, causing harm, as seen in certain autoimmune diseases. Complement inhibitors help by preventing these proteins from overreacting, reducing inflammation and tissue damage. They are used to treat conditions like paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), improving patient outcomes by calming the immune response and protecting healthy cells from attack.
