Communist Party of Yugoslavia
The Communist Party of Yugoslavia (CPY) was a political party that led the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from World War II until the country's breakup in the early 1990s. Founded in the 1920s, it united various ethnic groups under a socialist framework, promoting workers' rights, collective ownership, and state control of the economy. The party, under leaders like Josip Broz Tito, emphasized non-alignment during the Cold War. While it initially fostered stability, rising nationalism and economic challenges eventually contributed to the country's disintegration and the CPY's decline, leading to multiple conflicts in the region.
