Common but Differentiated Responsibilities
Common but Differentiated Responsibilities (CBDR) is a principle in international environmental policy acknowledging that while all countries share the responsibility to protect the environment, their obligations vary based on their capacities and contributions to environmental issues. Developed nations, often with greater resources and historical contributions to pollution, are expected to take stronger actions and provide support to developing nations, which may have fewer resources and face different challenges. This approach promotes fairness and equity in global efforts to address climate change and environmental degradation, recognizing both shared goals and differing capabilities.
