Comet Halley

Comet Halley is a well-known space visitor that orbits the Sun approximately every 76 years. It is a "short-period" comet, meaning it returns relatively often compared to others. Comets are icy bodies that develop glowing tails when they approach the Sun, caused by the Sun’s heat vaporizing their surface. Halley’s Comet has been observed for centuries and is famous for its bright appearance and predictable visits. Its nucleus is about 15 kilometers across, made of ice, dust, and rock. When near the Sun, it displays a luminous tail that can stretch millions of kilometers, making it one of the most spectacular objects in our sky.
