Colonial Annapolis

Colonial Annapolis, founded in the early 1600s in what is now Maryland, served as a significant political and cultural center during the colonial era. It was selected as the capital of Maryland in 1708 and became known for its elegant Georgian architecture, vibrant port activities, and as a hub for trade and governance. The city hosted important events, including the Continental Congress in 1783, where the U.S. Congress met. Today, Annapolis is recognized for its rich history, showcasing colonial landmarks and serving as the state capital, while also being home to the U.S. Naval Academy.
