CMT

CMT, or Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, is a hereditary neurological disorder that affects the peripheral nerves—those outside the brain and spinal cord. It causes gradual damage to nerve fibers, leading to muscle weakness, loss of sensation, and difficulty with coordination, especially in the feet and legs. Over time, individuals might experience foot deformities, balance issues, and difficulties with fine motor skills. CMT varies in severity and progression, but it is generally a lifelong condition. It is inherited, meaning it runs in families, but it is not contagious. There is no cure, but treatments can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
