Clostridium

Clostridium is a genus of bacteria that are rod-shaped, anaerobic (they thrive without oxygen), and can form tough spores to survive harsh conditions. Some Clostridium species are harmless, but others can cause serious illnesses, such as tetanus, botulism, and certain types of food poisoning. These bacteria often live in soil, water, and the intestines of humans and animals. They produce toxins that can damage tissues and disrupt normal body functions. Proper food handling, wound care, and hygiene are important to prevent infections caused by harmful Clostridium species.
