
Climate Feedback
Climate feedback refers to processes that can amplify or dampen the effects of climate change. For instance, as the Earth warms, ice melts, which reduces the surface's reflectivity (albedo), causing more sunlight to be absorbed and further increasing temperatures. This is a positive feedback loop. Conversely, increased plant growth due to higher CO2 can absorb more carbon, potentially cooling the climate, which is a negative feedback. Understanding these feedbacks helps scientists predict how changes in our climate may evolve over time.
