clarity grading

Clarity grading in gemstones, especially diamonds, assesses how free the stone is from internal features called inclusions and external blemishes. Grading categories, from Flawless (no visible flaws) to Included (with visible inclusions), help determine a diamond’s rarity and value. Higher clarity grades mean fewer imperfections, resulting in a cleaner, more transparent appearance. However, some inclusions are microscopic and not visible to the naked eye, so higher clarity grades generally imply a more pristine look. Overall, clarity grading provides a standardized way to evaluate a gemstone’s internal and external perfection.
