Clara McBride Hale

Clara McBride Hale, often known as “Mother Hale,” was an American humanitarian and community leader recognized for her dedication to children and families in need. Born in 1905, she founded Hale House in Harlem, New York City, in 1969, providing a safe haven and care for abandoned and drug-affected infants. Over her lifetime, Hale fostered hundreds of children, advocating for their well-being and education. Her work brought attention to social issues affecting families, and she became a role model for many, earning numerous awards for her contributions to society before her passing in 1992.
