Civil Rights Act of 1866

The Civil Rights Act of 1866 was a law passed in the United States to ensure that all people born in the country, regardless of race, had the same rights. It aimed to protect Black Americans from racial discrimination and unfair treatment, especially after the Civil War. The law declared that everyone is entitled to make contracts, sue, own property, and enjoy the same legal protections as white citizens.
