CIE color spaces
CIE color spaces, developed by the International Commission on Illumination, are standardized systems that quantify and represent colors based on human vision. They define colors using mathematical models that map how our eyes perceive different wavelengths of light. The most common, the CIE XYZ color space, allows consistent communication of color across devices and industries, ensuring colors appear similar regardless of display or medium. These spaces are essential for tasks like color matching, digital imaging, and lighting design, providing an objective framework to describe and reproduce the rich variety of colors we see.
