Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a type of cancer that affects a group of blood cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the immune system. In CLL, these cells become abnormal and grow too many, crowding out healthy blood cells. This can cause symptoms like increased infections, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and easy bruising. CLL typically progresses slowly and is more common in older adults. Treatment options vary depending on the stage and symptoms, and may include monitoring, medications, or, in some cases, chemotherapy or targeted therapies to control the disease.
