Chronic Graft-vs-Host Disease
Chronic Graft-versus-Host Disease (cGvHD) is a condition that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant, where the donor’s immune cells mistakenly attack the recipient’s healthy tissues and organs. It can affect multiple areas such as the skin, mouth, eyes, liver, and lungs. cGvHD can cause ongoing inflammation, scarring, and tissue damage, leading to symptoms like dryness, skin changes, or organ problems. Although it is a complex immune response, treatments aim to reduce the immune attack and manage symptoms, improving the patient’s quality of life.
