Chronic cholecystitis
Chronic cholecystitis is long-term inflammation of the gallbladder, often caused by repeated episodes of gallstones blocking the flow of bile. This persistent inflammation can lead to thickening and scarring of the gallbladder wall, impairing its ability to store and release bile effectively. People may experience recurring pain in the upper right abdomen, sometimes accompanied by nausea or indigestion. Over time, the condition can cause the gallbladder to become less functional, and in some cases, may require surgical removal to relieve symptoms and prevent complications.
