Chris McCandless (Alexander Supertramp)
Chris McCandless, also known as Alexander Supertramp, was an American adventurer who sought a life of simplicity and authentic experience by rejecting modern society's materialism. After graduating college, he donated his savings, abandoned his family, and traveled across North America, ultimately heading into the Alaskan wilderness. There, he aimed to live self-sufficiently in isolation, seeking nature’s purity. His story, made famous by Jon Krakauer’s book and the film “Into the Wild,” highlights themes of exploration, individualism, and the complexities of human connection versus solitude. Tragically, McCandless died in the wilderness at age 24, likely from starvation or environmental hazards.
