Choledocholithiasis
Choledocholithiasis occurs when gallstones form or travel into the common bile duct, the channel that carries bile from the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine. These stones can block the duct, causing pain, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), and sometimes infections. The condition often results from imbalances in bile components, leading to stone formation. Symptoms may include intense abdominal pain, nausea, and fever. Treatment typically involves removing the stones through endoscopic procedures or surgery to restore normal bile flow and prevent complications.
