Cholecystitis

Cholecystitis is the inflammation of the gallbladder, a small pouch that stores bile, which helps digest fats. This condition often occurs when a gallstone blocks the bile duct, causing pain in the upper right abdomen, nausea, and vomiting. It can be acute (sudden and severe) or chronic (long-lasting). Treatment usually involves antibiotics and, in many cases, surgery to remove the gallbladder. Left untreated, cholecystitis can lead to serious complications, so prompt medical attention is important if symptoms arise.
