Chinese feudalism

Chinese feudalism was a social and political system during certain historical periods where land was held by nobles or aristocrats, who governed their territories semi-independently. The emperor owned the land, but granted it to local lords in exchange for loyalty and military support. These lords managed their regions, collected taxes, and provided soldiers to the emperor. The system created a hierarchy with the emperor at the top, followed by aristocrats, and then peasants working the land. It emphasized decentralized authority, hereditary land rights, and reciprocal loyalty, shaping China's governance and social structure for centuries.
