Chimeric antigen receptor
A Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) is a customized protein engineered into a patient's immune cells, specifically T-cells, to help them recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. By adding this special receptor, the T-cells gain a new “target” to identify on the cancer’s surface. Once modified, these cells can seek out and destroy cancer cells directly, boosting the body's natural immune response. CAR therapy is a personalized treatment approach, showing promise in fighting certain cancers that are difficult to treat with traditional methods.
