Chikyu

Chikyu, meaning "Earth" in Japanese, is a scientific drilling ship operated by the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP). It is equipped to bore deep into the ocean floor to study Earth's interior, including its geology, seismic activity, and history. Chikyu's advanced technology allows scientists to explore beneath the ocean crust, helping us better understand earthquakes, climate change, and Earth's inner structure. Its missions contribute valuable data for scientific research, natural hazard assessment, and advancing our knowledge of our planet's dynamic processes.
