Chichimeca

The Chichimeca were a group of Indigenous peoples in north-central Mexico, known for their nomadic lifestyle and resistance to Spanish colonization in the 16th and 17th centuries. They inhabited the arid regions of what is now the states of Zacatecas, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosí, among others. The term "Chichimeca" was often used by the Spanish to describe various tribes, including hunter-gatherers. They are noted for their fierce independence and were involved in conflicts, such as the Chichimeca War, defending their land and way of life against European settlers and their encroachments.
