Cherenkov Telescope Array
The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is a large-scale observatory designed to detect high-energy gamma rays from the universe. When these energetic particles interact with Earth's atmosphere, they produce brief flashes of blue light called Cherenkov radiation. The CTA uses an array of telescopes to observe these flashes, allowing scientists to study extreme cosmic events like black holes, supernovae, and active galaxies. By capturing and analyzing these signals, CTA helps us understand the most energetic and distant phenomena in space, opening a window into the universe's most powerful processes.
