Chemo-RT (Chemoradiation)
Chemoradiation, or Chemo-RT, combines chemotherapy (cancer-fighting drugs) with radiation therapy (high-energy rays) to treat cancer. The chemotherapy helps weaken or shrink tumors and enhances the effectiveness of radiation. This combined approach targets cancer cells more precisely, increasing the chance of destroying the tumor while limiting damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Chemo-RT is often used for cancers that are difficult to remove surgically or to improve outcomes before surgery. While it can cause side effects, it offers a powerful, coordinated treatment strategy aimed at improving the chances of cancer control or cure.
