Charlottetown Conference

The Charlottetown Conference, held in September 1864 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, was a key meeting where representatives from the Canadian colonies discussed the idea of uniting into a single nation. They initially explored the concept of forming a federal union to create a stronger, more organized government while keeping local control. This conference laid the groundwork for the eventual Confederation of Canada in 1867, when Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia officially joined together to form the country we know today as Canada.
