Charles VIII of France

Charles VIII of France (1470–1498) was king from 1483 until his death. He is best known for initiating the French invasion of Italy in 1494, aiming to expand France's territory and influence, which marked the start of France's involvement in Italian politics. His reign was relatively short and marked by efforts to strengthen royal authority and modernize the administration. Despite his military ambitions, he was not a strong military leader himself and relied on advisors. His invasion of Italy, however, set the stage for future conflicts and significantly impacted European history.
