Charles Perkins

Charles Perkins was an influential Australian Aboriginal activist and leader who fought for Indigenous rights and social justice from the 1960s onward. He was the first Indigenous Australian to graduate from university and worked tirelessly to address issues like racial discrimination, poverty, and land rights. Perkins helped organize significant protests, including the 1965 Freedom Ride, which raised awareness of injustice against Aboriginal communities. His efforts contributed to important changes in Australian law and society, making him a key figure in the movement for equality and Indigenous recognition.
