Charkha

A charkha, or spinning wheel, is a traditional tool used to produce yarn from raw cotton or other fibers. It consists of a wheel and a spindle, allowing users to twist and spin fibers into thread. The charkha gained prominence during India's independence movement as a symbol of self-reliance and resistance against British textiles. Mahatma Gandhi championed its use to promote local production and weaving, encouraging people to spin their own clothing materials as a way to foster economic independence.
